I came in this world without being consulted. I see it as a wonderful opportunity to gain the most, with this short time I have always had. This is an English offshoot of a successful Spanish webpage entitled Anecdonet. NOW, PLEASE FOLLOW THE LINK TO GET THE JUICY STORY. That's a part of this hurdle race we are talking about!

What is this about...

Anecdonet English (AE) was born with the aim of providing tools to explain abstract ideas with basic images. Parables and metaphores are a gift for the minds of people immersed in the whirldwind of technology. Use images to explain complex ideas. Parables, comparisons. Moonlight stories. Short stories with intention. WE'RE GLAD TO RECEIVE YOUR COMMENTS.

TV vs Bible

Side by Side

They lie on the Table side by side

The Holy Bible and the TV guide

One is well worn and cherished with pride No not the Bible, but the TV guide.

As the pages are turned, what shall they see.

Oh, What does it matter turn on the TV So they open the book in which they confide

No not the Bible the TV guide.

The word of God is seldom read. Maybe a verse before they fall into bed.

Exhausted and sleept and tired as can be. Not from reading the Bible, from watching T.V.

So then back to the table side by side,

Lie the Holy Bible and the T.V. guide.

No time for prayer, no time for the word.

The plan of salvation is seldom heard.

But forgiveness of sin, so full and free, Is found in the Bible, not on the T.V.

Mere Christianity

Mere Christianity

Second to the Bible, (Gospel) there is a book that has provoked the greatest number of conversions in the English Speaking world.

The Lord's Prayer

The Lord's Prayer

"Our Father which art in heaven."
--- Yes? Don't interrupt me. I'm praying
--- But you called me Called you? I didn't call you. I'm praying. "Our father which art in heaven."
--- There you did it again. Did what?
--- Called me. You said, "Our Father which art in heaven." Here I am. What's on your mind? But I didn't mean anything by it. I was, you know, just saying my prayers for the day. I always say the Lord's prayer. It makes me feel good, kind of like getting a duty done.
--- All right. Go on. "Hallowed be thy name."
--- Hold it. What do you mean by that? By what?
--- By "Hallowed be thy name?" It means... it means... Good grief, I don't know what it means. How should I know? It's just a part of the prayer. By the way, what does it mean?
--- It means honored, holy, wonderful. Hey that makes sense. I never thought about what "hallowed" meant before.

Heaven is worth 10 years in prison. He was forced to step in the Bible!

The Holocaust was a terrible disgrace that killed millions of human beings. We are reminded of this tragedy every now and then by films and documentaries. This must be one of the historical facts all generations are most aware of...

But there are some other holocausts, many times silent. Today we will not refer to the silent death of abortion or infanticides all over the world... Today we will talk about Christian Martyrs of the 20th Century. Specifically about the story of a man of God who refused to step on a Bible in Latvia, during the Soviet regime...

I remember our Latvian priest, Vik-tors, who during the Soviet regime in Latvia was arrested for possessing the Holy Bible. In the eyes of the Soviet agents the Holy Scriptures were an an-tirevolutionary book. The agents threw the Holy Scriptures on the floor and ordered the priest to step on it. The priest refused and instead knelt down and kissed the book. For this gesture the priest was condemned to 10 years of hard labour in Siberia.

Can't we live together???

Good message from Ben Stein
Sometimes we all need a reality check! Worth a read...

If they know of him at all, many folks think Ben Stein is just
a quirky actor/comedian who talks in a monotone. He's also a very intelligent attorney who knows how to put ideas and words together in such a way as to sway juries and make people think clearly.

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.

Herewith a few confessions from my beating heart: I have no freaking clue who Nick and Jessica are. I see them on the cover of People and Us constantly when I am buying my dog biscuits and kitty litter. I often ask the checkers at the grocery stores. They never know who Nick and Jessica are either. Who are they? Will it change my life if I know who they are and why they have broken up? Why are they so important?

I don't know who Lindsay Lohan is either, and I do not care at all about Tom Cruise's wife.

Bob Marley died a Catholic?

Yes, it is true. Bob Marley died a Catholic. Mr. Dallas Carter of the Hawaiian royal family personally and directly asked Marley's Bishop about this in 2003. The very same Bishop who heard Marley's deathbed confession.

His death bed conversion/confession does not, however, "canonize" his musical recordings. (...)

Coherence and service in politics

COURAGE OF BEING COHERENT IN PUBLIC LIFE Hilaire Belloc, the well-known historian –author of “How The Reformation Happened”- and inseparable friend of Maurice Baring and G.K. Chesterton stood for the Liberals at South Salford in a General Election. Belloc’s Conservative opponents adopted the campaign slogan “Don’t vote for a Frenchman and a Catholic”. Belloc responded in the first public meeting: “Gentlemen, I am a Catholic....

On Tolkien's Faith

She gave her life for the faith and Tolkien never forgot it.
The martyr

The Lord of Heaven and Middle Earth
J.R.R. Tolkien's Work and his Catholic Faith
by Eric Scheske

His father died when he was four.

When he was eight, his mother had to go back to work to support her children when an Anglican relative withheld financial support because of her conversion to Catholicism. (The establishment in England at this time was prejudiced against "popery " to an extent scarcely conceivable today.)

The martyr
Four years later, his mother—overworked and worn out from poverty and the emotional pressures of family members who continued to criticize her conversion—lapsed into a diabetic coma and died in six days.

The boy was left in the care of Fr. Francis Morgan, a priest appointed by the mother to act as guardian...

How it would be if prisons would be run the Christian way

A Christian Prison Christ’ kingship

Near the city of Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil, there is a remarkable facility. Twenty years ago the Brazilian government turned a prison over to two Christians. The institution was renamed Humaita, and the plan was to run it on Christian principles. With the exception of two full-time staff, all the work is done by inmates. Families outside the prison adopt an inmate to work with during and after his term. Chuck Colson visited the prison and made this report: (...)
