Modern society, without its willing it, is making children become heartless, brainless family riders.

Roots may be found in various grounds... I venture to mention some:

- having just a few children, willingly,

- being just too busy to take care of children (both parents full time employed),

- and child self-propelled in education through television and internet.

Teachers find hard to survive the menace of violence provoked by the poor attitude of many students towards the subjects required to be taught by the General Syllabus.

I admit being totally confussed and feeling just too small for this huge problem:

His face dashed. He was outpouring satisfaction left and right. He even waved his hand to the surprised people. He was not transparent any more. He was not a black. He could not stop smiling. It came right from his heart. He entered the Mall and pointed to those nice trousers for the occasion.

- Yeah! Those ones! I'll try them on...

Clearly, the brand said everything: President...

- I am no more a Black-man. I am BLACK.

And he got swinging through the alleys, a complete brand new day.

It is a good moment to stop and think.

All what we are has nothing to do with the way we look or what we have. Even though nowadays many facts seem to tell us otherwise.

What makes me important is who I am.

So I thought: Well I am also glad, because of my black friend!

But, What am I?

I am BIG, for I have been bought for a high price (1 Cor. 6:19-20): the whole blood of Christ.

So, I did not need a pair of President trousers, but I felt like been a son of the Royal Family... a Son of God.

And I imagined my shadow swinging along the streets waving at the flabbergasted peddestrians.

For all we know, God and his plans are far too complex to hold them within our head, to understand or comprehend them. We could express the same thought as a thinker and a man of God put it once: -"If you want to make God smile, wisper your plans into His ears!".

One Sunday in Northern Minnesota, there was a terrible blizzard blowing. The pastor struggled through deep snow to the little town's church where he found a congregation of one: a farmer in the front pew solemnly chewing gum.

"Well, farmer," he said "it is a terrible morning and there are only two of us. Shall we call it a day and get back to our firesides?"

"Well," said the farmer, "dunno. I only know about cattle. If take a load of hay out to the field and only one comes, I still feed him."

An important part of the spreading of the Gospel is the image we leave behind. Whenever we visit, there is an impression hard to forget. I remember a woman who told me once:

- Oh I will never forget Father So-and-so! He was so saintly...! He didn't almost eat...

The problem is that she remarked this fact at lunch...

Having a high respect for the opinion of others or total paralysis...

Some time ago I visited a university residence in a country in the centre of Europe. There were residents from different nationalities. The most remarkable attitude of the "local" residents was that of just being around... Whereas the foreign residents, less attached to the rules and regulations, more mediterranean, were all out organizing dinners, competitions, and getting many friends to come to the residence. It was like a shock. You could meet the experience of two walks of life getting along together: those taken over by the self-respect (in the sense of bashfulness, shyness) and those who paid no attention to what others would say...

Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably, And never regret anything that made you smile.

Why is it so difficult for us confess that we are believers? Isn't it more insulting to intelligence to admit that the reason of all beauty we admire, of all order in the cells of a body or in the Universe is just mere coincidence: is a fruit of CHANCE???
Let us admit that there are in the conclusion of thoughts about origins of the Universe two possible solutions: either a Creator God or Chance. Which one is your God? But, let us be sincere: let it be a choice with all consequences...

If you have a teenage child you have probably heard of Bebo, and seen it in action, looking over your child’s shoulder.

But should you be concerned about it? Why so much media hype about it? Well, how would you feel if your 13-year-old daughter hung around with a group of 20-somethings in the local park every evening?

Would you be concerned, knowing that they talked about intimate things, recalling what they were up to last weekend, discussing how to get around parental control, sharing mobilephone videos?

Before he became a Catholic priest he was a Lutheran. His life and writtings give witness to his commitment and loyalty.

Being oneself

Accepting that we are simply ourselves, much in need of God's help is a huge step. Many people flee from this idea and take refuge in Aesthetic Surgery, in alcohol, drugs or everything together which is a sure way to depression.

A prior step to that is deceiving oneself. Immature persons dream with just pretending to be someone else in front of other people.

We offer today the anecdote-example of this later case. The present anecdote shows the case of the child-like person who deceives himself pretending to be someone else... There it goes...

Pornography awakes the beast we bear inside: 1. Even the "soft porn" harms anybody. 2. All pornography makes the receptor insensible. 3. Pornography causes addiction. 4. Pornography degrades matrimony. 5. Pornography increases criminal intention in dangerous criminals. 6. Pornography pushes to commit other crimes and enables them.

The war in Europe was only four months old, yet it had already reached a savagery unknown until that time. After the initial success of the German army, the war became a desperate trench struggle with a very high casualty count. The promise of early success seemed like a far away dream. The snow and the cold of 1914 made things even worse, but as the darkness fell on Christmas Eve something happened that would never occur again.
